Inventory Policy Runs on Laptops

Since laptops are generally not jacked into the network very often, I was curious what happens with my software inventory policy runs.  In other words, I have a full s/w inventory scheduled at the beginning of each month and a delta during the week.  Say if a laptop isn't on during these timeframes, does some type of remediation occur that perhaps runs inventory out-of-cycle; depending upon how long a client has been offline?
