So i was googling for an issue on VSR and somehow I got to a page and cant find the article now... but it was talking about a rumor that Symantec Recovery Solution maybe coming back?
Cant find the link i was on and curious if anyone else have heard the same?
We used to have all of our machines on Altiris RS and it was great. Dedupe, folder exclusion, file type exclusion... it was ever so sweet. Once Symantec bought Altiris, they EOL'd it and SSR was not as good.
We took our license count from 4000 down to 1000 and use 25ish now... thought of ditching the last of the licenses but with this possible news, has our hopes up.
We attended a conference and it was about big data. When we said we dont care about the data, peoples faces dropped and gave that blank stare. We were like... we have machines where the vendor is out of business and we need to recover from a drive failure. We have a process to get data off and dont care about it...
SSR is based off of the hostname.v2i and RS was just plain ole .blob files...
Fingers crossed...
