Saving software license docs on the server

Hello,

We have SMP 7.1 SP2 

I cannot view software license documents saved on our network drive.  I also add software license documents by using the "Associated Documents" field. My software licenses are on a shared network drive - I entered the full network path in the "File" field.

Is it preferable to save these documents on a share on NS?
