security role cant see inventory data

I created a new security role and gave read permissions to all inventory data classes, but when I login with a user in that role I can go to the resource manager and view inventory, then I see the tree of all the classes that I gave permission for, but when I click on any to see the actual data I get an error that I do not have read acess, any thoughts on rights I may be missing to give that access?
