Software Product License Tab

I need a solution

Hi all,

We are just deploying Altiris CMS 7.1 SP2 in its first stage, and we working on defining Software Products in order to track and meter most important ones. In this way, we have been looking into manuals and Connect about SW Product "Licenses Tab" details and working info, but I haven't found anything. My questions are:

  • When a licenses is renewable, does it mean that we have to add a new purchase per year? Or maintenance and support info, is only informative?
  • Each license entry, I understand adds the total license count. We have several companies, which own global licenses and also their own ones. Do you think it will be a good practice to add all of them.
  • Does Support and Maintenance info, add additional costs to reports?

We already don't have AMS installed, so I think this is a small part of all the SW Licensing capabilities, but well, I will appreciate if you could share with me your best practices on this matter.
