Site Servers, HTTPS Codebases, Windows 8 Authentication

I need a solution

Backend is Windows 2008 R2 with IIS 7, SMP is 7.1.8280. Testing Windows 8 with Altiris 7.1. HTTPS for all communication where available, no UNC codebases. Site Servers have both Task and Package Agents.

The issue I am experiencing is not listed on the incompatibility list with Windows 8/SMP7 KB Article. My Windows XP and Windows 7 clients are working without issue in the above backend configuration. The description of the problem is that the Altiris Agent on a Windows 8 system cannot authenticate with the HTTPS codebases with the Site Server. The Windows 8 client has the proper HTTPS certs, can register with the Task Server and process all tasks, and its getting all policies from the Altiris server as expected.

When I change the Altiris Agent service to run as a domain account, it can authenticate, download all packages and operate normally. When I change the Altiris Agent service on Windows 8 back to System it cannot authenticate to the HTTPS shares. In reviewing the Altiris Agent logs it shows a 401 Auth Error trying to download the package.

Any guidance is appreciated.

Thanks,

Easy_Coy
