Hello All,
This is my first post and I just want to say that the forum has been a great help to me in the past, so thanks!
We currently have one SMP 7.0 server per domain (total of 2 domains). The domains do not trust each other and that can't change. We basically manage each server independently. I inherited this current setup and I do not know if Site Servers were ever explored as an option.
Anyway, we are about to implement SMP 7.1 SP2 (finally!) on a new server.
I was wondering if I could setup a site server in one domain while the NS sits in another domain.
I did some searching on the forums and found two threads that address this issue but they have left me a bit confused.
Links to other threads:
Site Server - Remote Location - 8/2011
Notification or site servers needs to be in the same AD domain? - 5/2012
1) Do the client workstations need talk to the NS in the primary site or can the Site Server act as a proxy in a sense?
2) If so, does this mean the clients require authentication or just be allowed (open ports) to communucate with the NS in the other domain (untrusted)?
3) How will the agents get installed in this situation?
I'm really looking for a solution where I don't need two NS servers, but the managed workstations are on two seperate untrusted domains. Creating common local administrator accounts on the servers shouldn't be an issue if we need to use ACC.
Thanks!
